PROJECT OBJECTIVES

To meet the demands of the shipbuilding industry with textile products:
– for furnishing (development of natural and acrylic fabrics with new production processes)
– for technical/structural products which con repiace glass fiber
To reduce weight and cost and to improve the environmental impact, recyclability included.

ABSTRACT

The project aims at the development of:
– furnishing with high resistance to light, weather and corrosi on, good hydro/oleo repellence
– technical/structural textiles for interior applications, with high flame resistance, high thermal and soundproof insulation
The following products were studied and developed:
– 100% natural textiles (materials and processes)
– acrylic textiles with flame resistant and anti-bacterial properties, which con, thanks to an innovative production process, replace modacrylic textiles, and con be produced in new colors
– non-woven fabrics with insulating and soundproofing properties, which are reformable and con be used for external covers in furnishing
– basalt based materials to be used for panels with flame resistance, soundproof and thermal and acoustic insulation properties
