Technological development and industrialization to produce a dye for fabrics from waste or rejection of textile material and dyeing process of fabrics with such dye.

This project aims to create new solutions for a more sustainable textile industry by recycling industrial waste while adhering to the demand for a circular economy. The textile industry is one of the largest and most important industries in the world, but it is also, without doubt, one of the most polluting. The aim of this project is to develop a dye that does not require chemical synthesis but results from sustainable recycling of processing waste. In particular, textile waste that has been previously subjected to dyeing processes will be recycled to produce “recycled dye powder”, with which it will be possible to dye new fabrics. The sustainability of the proposed process is due to the fact that the chemical synthesis of dye is carried out only once to dye twice.

The expected results with the construction of the production plant in Biella are as follows:

  • Recycling of textile waste, in particular cotton waste from the cutting industry a from clothing packagings
  • Attract global brands to the use of this technology “Made in Biella”
  • Becoming an eco-sustainable reference in dyeing systems
  • Promotion of a virtuous circle in the textile industry (circular economy)
  • Raising awareness of the importance of recycling and sustainability in the final consumer
  • Reduction of waste in the treatment plants of synthetic dyes.
